Consumer Duty
The requirement on firms to treat their customers fairly (TCF) is not new: it was a part of the Financial Services Authority’s regulatory requirement and continues to be firmly rooted in the Financial Conduct Authority’s (the FSA’s successor) Principles.
From the 31st July 2023, the principle was superseded with the Consumer Duty which requires firms to deliver good outcomes to its customers.
Whilst the Consumer Duty Principle is intended to impose a higher standard of conduct than TCF, we continue to follow the previous FCA guidance on TCF whilst also meeting our obligations under the Consumer Duty.
